Here’s something I received in my e-mail inbox today. Apparently, 40 years ago this year…
Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy told the world that ‘things are moving so fast in race relations a Negro could be President in 40 years. There’s no question about it,’ the Attorney General said, ‘in the next 40 years a Negro can achieve the same position that my brother has.’ Kennedy continued that, ‘Prejudice exists and probably will continue to … but we are making progress. We are not going to accept the status quo.
How about that?

Postscript
Leave it to these guys to throw a monkey-wrench in an otherwise beautiful story. According to them:
According to my search, this speech was given in May 1961. JFK was already dead in 1968, actually four years prior.

Bobby was right now this, whether or not he was less specific in his speech, he did see where the country was heading and a glimpse into what could possibly be. Good one, chuck
