Shame! How Can We Let This Happen?

I am at once saddened and embarrassed by this—this act of barbarity among my own country people… We’ve got to do whatever it takes to stop this immediately. This is more than child abuse; this is a crime against humanity.
Tracy McVeigh of the observer reports:
Evangelical pastors are helping to create a terrible new campaign of violence against young Nigerians. Children and babies branded as evil are being abused, abandoned and even murdered while the preachers make money out of the fear of their parents and their communities.
Twin boys Itohowo and Kufre stand surrounded by angry villagers who believe they are bringing evil to their lives.

We’ve got to right this wrong, and NOW! If you are as outraged as I am (and as I think you ought to be), let’s use this forum to initiate a conversation on what steps we need to take to help these children regain their humanity — at the barest minimum…
